ORDINANCE 06-33

AN ORDINANCE OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE FY 2006 GENERAL FUND OPERATING BUDGET BY APPROPRIATING $4,200.00 FROM THE SISTER CITY RESERVE ACCOUNT FOR COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY SISTER CITY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AUTHORIZING TRAVEL FOR A COUNCILMEMBER AND ASSISTING A HOMER STUDENT WITH EXPENSES FOR EXCHANGE STUDENT TO SISTER CITY YELISOVO, RUSSIA COSTS.

WHEREAS, The Sister City International 50th Anniversary Celebration and Conference will be held July 13 - 15, 2006 in Washington D.C.; and

WHEREAS, The City of Homer needs to be represented; and

WHEREAS, The Sister City Staff Person, Administrative Assistant Rachel Livingston and perhaps one Councilmember should attend this function, the cost is approximately $2,000.00 per person for travel and subsistence; and

WHEREAS, Lindsay Henkelman is Homer's Representative for the International Student Exchange with Homer's Sister City Yelisovo, Russia and is raising funds to that end.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Homer Ordains:

Section 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the use of the Sister City Reserve Funds in an amount not to exceed $4,200.00; and
