AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE AND EMERGENCY PROCUREMENT OF EMERGENCY RESCUE TOOL UPGRADES TO ARCTIC FIRE AND SAFETY OF FAIRBANKS, ALASKA IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,595.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The Homer Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) has $28,000.00 budgeted in account 151-736; and

WHEREAS, The HVFD currently has Hurst type hydraulic rescue tool system; and

WHEREAS, The HVFD has evaluated the Hurst and Rescue Tec systems and recommends changing to the Rescue Tec like of tools; and

WHEREAS, The heavy hydraulic cutter recently failed and it does not seem feasible to repair this tool when the City is in the process of replacing it; and

WHEREAS, Not having the heavy hydraulic cutter is a concern with regard to heavy extrication needs.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Homer Ordains:

Section 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes sole source purchase and emergency procurement of emergency rescue toll upgrades to the firm of Arctic Fire and Safety of Fairbanks, Alaska in the amount of $25,595.00 from Account 151-736, as reflected in Purchase Order 2246 and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents.
