AN ORDINANCE OF THE
WHEREAS,
The General Fund as of
WHEREAS,
The Pratt Museum funding from the City was decreased to $80,000 six years ago
to help balance the city budget; and
WHEREAS,
Pratt Museum documentation indicates that their operating expenses have grown
4% every year since then, yet the City of Homer has not increased its
contribution in the past six years; and
WHEREAS,
Based on a 4% yearly operating cost increase from the year 2001, the 2007
funding level should be over $105,000; and
WHEREAS,
With a $10,000 increase to museum funding, the City will only be contributing
13.5% of the operating support necessary to maintain the museum; and
WHEREAS,
Other local organizations have experienced cost
increases similar to the
WHEREAS,
The Homer Foundation has been designated by the City to distribute funds to
other local organizations supporting community needs in Homer; and
WHEREAS,
Half of the money distributed to the Homer Foundation is placed in the City of
Homer Fund for long term investment to grow a City fund for future
distribution; and
WHEREAS,
The balance money will be administered by the Homer Foundation as it sees fit to support the
increased operating expenses of local organizations; and
WHEREAS,
The additional $10,000 to the Pratt Museum and the $10,000 to the Homer
Foundation was included in the 2007 Operating Budget adopted by the Homer City
Council on
