ORDINANCE 07-19

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL AMENDING HOMER CITY CODE SECTION 18.07.060 PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION; PUBLIC ARTS COMMITTEE  TO APPOINT PUBLIC ARTS COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR TWO YEAR TERMS, STAGGERING TERMS. 

 

            WHEREAS, The Public Arts Committee was created via Ordinance 02-25(A) with a membership of seven committee members with terms of two years; and

 

            WHEREAS, It has created difficulty with all members terms expiring simultaneously to have the required members present for a meeting; and

 

            WHEREAS, Staggering the terms of the members will allow fewer vacancies on the Committee and provide assurance a quorum is present.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer:

 

            Section 1.  HCC Section 18.07.060 Program Administration; Public Arts Committee is hereby revised to read as follows:

 

a. The City Council shall appoint a Public Arts Committee consisting of seven members. Prior to making appointments, the City Council may solicit nominations from the Pratt Museum, community arts groups, and the public. Appointments will be for two year terms. Initial terms shall be staggered as follows: Four two-year terms; three one-year terms. In the event of a vacancy on the Public Arts Committee, the Mayor shall appoint a person to fill such vacancy for the unexpired term, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Members serve at the pleasure of the City Council.

 

            Section 2.         This ordinance is permanent and shall become part of the Code.
