ORDINANCE 07-31(S)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE
HOMER ACCELERATED WATER SEWER PROGRAM (HAWSP) WATER RESERVES FUND FOR
INVESTIGATING THE INTEGRITY OF THE SPIT WATER TANK
WHEREAS, The 750,000 gallon water tank on the Spit was constructed in 1983; and
WHEREAS, This water tank provides water storage and fire protection to the port and harbor; and
WHEREAS, This tank is currently out of service due to leaks coming from the floor of the tank; and
WHEREAS, An analysis of the metal floor is recommended by Public Works to decide how a repair can best be made; and
WHEREAS, Construction plans for the repair needs to commence as soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, The City has entered into a term contract with Bristol Environmental and Engineering Services to provide these types of services to the City; and
WHEREAS, The cost to determine the cause of the leaks, recommend a repair method and prepare a bid document are as follows:
Evaluate, Recommend and Design Repair $55,000
WHEREAS, This problem must be remedied.
Section 1. That use of the HAWSP Funds is hereby authorized for Planning and Design of the Repair to the Spit Tank:
