AN
ORDINANCE OF THE
WHEREAS,
The commercial fishing industry has been a cornerstone
of the local economy for over 50 years; and
WHEREAS,
The North Pacific Fisheries Association has furthered community awareness of
the importance of this industry with an annual fisheries banquet for the public
over the last 26 years; and
WHEREAS,
Part of the cost of doing so is rental of the Elks Hall at a cost of $700.00 for
the event; and
WHEREAS,
The City has encouraged business development through annual grants to the
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS,
The NPFA functions outside of the Chamber of Commerce and is deserving
of similar recognition given the Chamber; and
WHEREAS,
It is desirable for the City to meaningfully
acknowledge the contribution of this industry to the local economy and marine
safety education.
Section 1: The FY 2008 Operating Budget is hereby amended by appropriating $700.00 to the North Pacific Fisheries Association in support of their Annual Seafood Dinner as follows:
