ORDINANCE 08-13

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING THE FY 2008 OPERATING BUDGET BY APPROPRIATING $700.00 TO THE NORTH PACIFIC FISHERIES ASSOCIATION (NPFA) IN SUPPORT OF THEIR ANNUAL SEAFOOD DINNER.

WHEREAS, The commercial fishing industry has been a cornerstone of the local economy for over 50 years; and  

WHEREAS, The North Pacific Fisheries Association has furthered community awareness of the importance of this industry with an annual fisheries banquet for the public over the last 26 years; and

WHEREAS, Part of the cost of doing so is rental of the Elks Hall at a cost of $700.00 for the event; and

WHEREAS, The City has encouraged business development through annual grants to the Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, The NPFA functions outside of the Chamber of Commerce and is deserving of similar recognition given the Chamber; and

WHEREAS, It is desirable for the City to meaningfully acknowledge the contribution of this industry to the local economy and marine safety education.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

Section 1: The FY 2008 Operating Budget is hereby amended by appropriating $700.00 to the North Pacific Fisheries Association in support of their Annual Seafood Dinner as follows:
