AN
ORDINANCE OF THE
WHEREAS, The old wooden dock at Ben Walters Park has deteriorated badly and has become a maintenance problem and a public safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Department and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission recommend that this dock be fixed or replaced as soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, Public Works recommends replacement using materials other than wood which will be less expensive to construct and easier to maintain; and
WHEREAS, The Administration recommends that funding come from the General Fund Depreciation as opposed to the Parks Reserves because there is not enough money in that account to pay for this project and other, already approved capital improvements.
Section 1. The Homer City Council finds that appropriating an amount not to exceed $60,000 from the General Fund Depreciation to replace the dock at Ben Walters park subject to all permits is in the public interest and hereby appropriates the money as follows:

Section 2. This is a budget amendment ordinance, is temporary in nature, and is a non-code ordinance which shall not be codified.
