ORDINANCE 08-46(S)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING THE FY 2008 BUDGET BY AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $10,171.16 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE PURCHASE OF CASELLE SOFTWARE.

WHEREAS, The City purchased Caselle Software for the Finance Department in Ordinance 03-41 in the amount of $80,000; and

WHEREAS, The Public Works and Finance Departments, and Planning Division can better utilize Caselle software with the purchase of an additional software module called Permit-n-Force; and

WHEREAS, The software will allow staff to reduce paperwork, save paper, energy, storage space and staff time; and

WHEREAS, Reducing energy use is a goal of the Climate Action Plan; and

WHEREAS, Creating a shared central database with all address, utility and land use information will increase the speed with which a permit can be issued, and increase the level of customer service; and

WHEREAS, Utilizing one shared central database staff will spend less time looking for information in paper files, thereby saving time and increasing productivity; and

WHEREAS, The benefit of the software will be shared by citizens, city employees, and the environment.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

Section 1. That the City Council of Homer, Alaska, hereby amends the FY 2008 Budget by authorizing the transfer of funds from the General Fund in the amount of $10,171.16 for the purchase of Caselle software:

Section 2. This ordinance is a budget amendment only, is not of a permanent nature and is a non code ordinance.
