AN ORDINANCE OF THE
WHEREAS, The Homer Chamber of Commerce is working to promote economic development in the community and has shared its economic development goals with the City Council; and
WHEREAS, One of the Chamber’s most important priorities is to expand services to small businesses and entrepreneurs planning to start a business; and
WHEREAS, As part of this effort, the Chamber is attempting to hire a business counselor, establish a resource library, conduct professional workshops and forums, and promote workforce development through the SCORE Program; and
WHEREAS, The Chamber has submitted a proposal for funding to the City in the amount of $15,000.
NOW,
THEREFORE, THE
Section 1: The Homer City Council finds that providing $15,000 to the Chamber on a one time basis, as seed money, to expand services supporting the development of small business is in the public interest and hereby amends the FY 2008 budget and appropriates the money as follows:
