ORDINANCE 09-06

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,940.00 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR HOUSING AND OPERATIONAL EXPENSES FOR A VISTA VOLUNTEER.

WHEREAS, On July 28, 2008 City Council adopted Resolution 08-77 authorizing the City Manager to prepare and submit an application for an Americorps VISTA (Volunteers in Serve to America) to assist with economic development tasks; and

WHEREAS, The VISTA Volunteer is to provide assistance to the Economic Development Advisory Commission in preparing and/or updating the City’s Economic Development Plan; and

WHEREAS, The City’s application has been approved and the recruitment process is ready to begin; and

WHEREAS, A budget appropriation in the amount of $6,940 to cover housing allowance, travel, office equipment and supplies and conference fees is necessary.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

Section 1: The Homer City Council authorizes a budget appropriation not to exceed $6,940 from the General Fund for housing and operational expenses for a VISTA Volunteer as follows:

Section 2. This is a budget amendment ordinance, is temporary in nature, and is a non-code ordinance which shall not be codified.
