ORDINANCE 09-17
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING THE FY 2009 CAPITAL BUDGET BY REAPPROPRIATING $7,120 FROM THE AIRPORT RESERVES FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLEANING THE AIRPORT TERMINAL HVAC SYSTEM AND CONDUITS.
WHEREAS, The FY 2009 Capital budget contained $70,000 to replace old carpeting with new tile flooring, $25,000 for interior painting, and $8,500 to replace restroom counters and sinks at the Airport Terminal, for a total approved project budget of $103,500; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Department and the Terminal Manager were able to complete all of this work for a total project cost of $72,200 which includes the addition of a mechanical tile cleaning machine and heavy duty entrance way and enplane/deplane area carpeting; and
WHEREAS, Public Works would like to use the money already budgeted (FY 2009 Budget) for HVAC and conduit cleaning at the airport terminal for similar cleaning at other City buildings (not in the budget) and reappropriate $7,120 from the Airport Reserves (using airport project savings) for HVAC cleaning at the terminal.
WHEREAS, Cleaning HVAC systems and conduits at all City buildings is an important maintenance function and provides healthier air for City workers and members of the public doing business in City buildings. This has taken on added importance this year given the recent ashfall.
WHEREAS, Transferring the budgeted money for HVAC cleaning from the airport terminal to other City buildings falls within the existing budget authority of the City Manager.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:
Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby amends the FY 2009 Capital Budget by reappropriating $7,120 from the Airport Reserves; funds originally budgeted for the Airport Terminal Improvement Project, as follows:
