ORDINANCE 09-21(A)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING $15,000 FROM THE PARKS AND RECREATION RESERVES AND THE BALANCE FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIRING THE BISHOP’S BEACH SHELTER.
WHEREAS, The shelter at Bishop’s Beach is in need of repair; and
WHEREAS, The project was removed from the CIP list, with the intention of funding the repair through the operating budget; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Department estimates the cost of replacing the supporting columns and horizontal support beams at $36,500; and
WHEREAS, Failure of this structure could lead to significant liability for the City and loss of a valuable recreational resource.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:
Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby appropriates $15,000 from the Parks and Recreation Reserve Account and the balance from the General Fund for the repair of the Bishop’s Beach Shelter, as follows:

Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to pursue the offer of construction made by Larry Smith prior to proceeding subject to meeting any required insurance coverage to insure that there is no exposure to the City.
Section 3. This is a budget amendment ordinance, is temporary in nature, and shall not be codified.
