ORDINANCE 09-25

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA,  ACCEPTING NEW LIFEPAK CARDIAC MONITOR / DEFIBRILLATOR / PACER EQUIPMENT PURCHASED BY THE SOUTHERN REGION EMS COUNCIL WITH CODE BLUE FUNDING AND APPROPRIATING THE REQUIRED LOCAL MATCH IN THE AMOUNT OF $18,277.35 PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION 07-99.

 

            WHEREAS, Resolution 07-99 authorized the City Administration to apply for a 2008 Code Blue Grant to replace the existing LifePak 12 Monitor / Defibrillators with new state of the art equipment; and

 

            WHEREAS, Resolution 07-99 contained a pledge that the City would produce the required local cash match if the grant was awarded, estimated at the time to be approximately $8,000; and

 

            WHEREAS, The City was recently notified that the Southern Region EMS Council has obtained the necessary funding, is ready to make the purchase, and is requesting that the City produce the required cash match; and

 

            WHEREAS, Since Resolution 07-99 was adopted, the maker of the LifePak 12 series line discontinued it and replaced it with a new model, the LifePak 15; and

 

            WHEREAS, The new model is more expensive and the required local cash match is now $18,277.35; and

 

            WHEREAS, The Fire Chief recommends that it is important to go forward with acquisition of the equipment this year in order to replace vital, but outdated equipment and insure that the City does not lose the funding and have to reapply next year. 

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

 

            Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby accepts new cardiac monitor / defibrillator / Pacer Equipment obtained by the Southern Region EMS Council through Code Blue program funding and appropriates the required local match pursuant to Resolution 07-99 as follows:

            Section 2. This is a budget amendment ordinance, is temporary in nature, and shall not be codified.
