ORDINANCE 09-37

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,778.00, PROVIDING FOR THE LOCAL MATCH OF $5,000.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.   

WHEREAS, The Homer Police Department is currently in position to receive a grant of $11,778.00 through the Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Formula Program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, part of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA / Stimulus Funding) of 2009; and

WHEREAS, The two grant purpose areas that are most appropriate for the Homer Police Department are the Law Enforcement Programs and Technology Improvement Programs; and

WHEREAS, There is a need for active shooter training to enhance the capabilities of the Homer Police.

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer:

 

         Section 1. That the City of Homer formally accepts the Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the Amount of $11,778.00 for active shooter training and provides a local match of $5,000.00 as follows:

            Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

 

            Section 3. This ordinance is a budget amendment only, is not of a permanent nature and is a non code ordinance.
