AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING
AND APPROPRIATING A STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC
FACILITIES 2006 NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAYS GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $63,000.00, WITH A
LOCAL MATCH OF CASH AND/OR “IN KIND” SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,000.00, FOR PHASE II DESIGN AND PERMITTING OF THE HOMER
SPIT TRAIL EXTENSION, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE
APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, The City submitted an application for funding under this program to initiate
the environmental permitting, design, and acquisitions of easements for the
completion of Phase II of the Spit Trail from the Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon to
the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal and End of the Road Park; and
WHEREAS, The
funding would also incorporate placement of an informational sign near the
ferry terminal which will be provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to
help passengers find their way to nearby points of interest; and
WHEREAS,
The State approved the City of Homer’s National Scenic Byways grant application
in the amount of $63,000.00, with the City of Homer providing a local match of
funds and/or in kind services in the amount of $31,000; and
WHEREAS,
It is anticipated that most of the required local match will be provided
through “in-kind” services.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:
Section 1. The
Homer City Council hereby accepts and appropriates a grant of $63,000.00 from
the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities National
Scenic Byways Grant Program as follows:
