PENDING BUSINESS
1.
Wildlife Conservation Sign – tabled and carried forward to
next meeting
2.
Inventory of Art in Public Buildings
- Dave went to
airport and took pictures, forms had not been received. Dru was to email and mail to Gaye, Hope and Debbie
Poore will be doing parks and trails.
Michael Armstrong with the Homer News wants to work with Homer Council
of the Art and Public Art Committee to put city art in a map that they put out
in their tourist guide in September.
They would like to include city artwork in it.
3.
Update from Town Center – Revisionary path. The last council meeting tabled the issue
until October. By next meeting, Angie
will have report on Artists Follow-up.
4.
NOMAR Wall – Tom Reed is excited and is willing to refresh for
$1000. It could be a clean up job. His original vision was to put in the next
generation of artists and add color. He
is very uncomfortable about not having a public process to see who will be on the
wall. Maybe a sub-committee, or
taskforce could help in June or July.
Recommend clean up and work with Kate Mitchell and Tammy Haggarty and do
a refresher. It was requested to ask Tom
to put this in a proposal form in multi levels – simple refresh and complete
update so that we have a clear picture for the vision for the wall. It is a process and not done all at one
time. It makes it a professional
position and for budget purposes and working with the city it is
important. The question was asked if Tom
wanted to add people in the space still available or over the black images, and
it is intended to be added into blank spaces.
Then we can form a taskforce to proceed. It was asked if the Public Arts
Committee could assign Homer Council on Arts to spearhead the effort and it was
decided that is should stay with the PAC as the funds are disbursed from the
city. Angie talked to Kate Mitchell and
she thought it would be good to add characters such as a fisherman or other
community members. She would have no
problem with taking out vegetation from the front. Angie left a message with Tammy to meet with
her, maybe next month.
5.
Committee
vacancy – Debbie Poore was mentioned and it was also requested to invite Rachel
Livingston to apply.
NEW BUSINESS
1.
Artist feedback – Gaye and Dave are continuing to
work on this, basically put together one sheet to all artists involved in the 1%
program to get feedback on positive and not so positive experiences. The committee can then incorporate these into
the future process. Dave is leaning
toward open ended questions instead of multiple choice so they can speak
out.
