PENDING BUSINESS
1. Refurbishment of Art Wall
During work session with Artist Tom Reed, the original
artist, he explained the history of the mural painted on the wall on Pioneer
Ave. He was asked to paint it in 1986 as part of the Pioneer Avenue road
construction project. The mural honors the contributions of the performing
artists whose work performed remains only in our memory. Mr. Reed felt strongly that the performing
arts were central to what makes Homer special and unique. It was decided that
the mural should be called something like “Tribute to the Performing
Arts”. Tom will work on the language for
that as well as a plaque to be included on the wall.
It was discussed
and decided to enter into an agreement with Tom Reed to maintain and refurbish
the mural on Pioneer Ave. in the amount of $1,000 plus the cost of materials. Materials costs were discussed from $500 -
$750.
He has agreed to refurbish and
update the wall by adding additional characters in gray tones. The following
items were unanimously approved:
a.
The
background wall color remain the same
b.
The
characters shall be in three categories, Music, Dance & Theater
c.
The
public’s input is requested.
d.
A
press release will go out explaining the history and what Tom will be doing. It
will ask for suggestions of current performing artists to be included.

mess.

Staggering dates - The terms as they are now are: Dave, Angie, Michael, & Gaye

Comments
were made about the Library “Community Art
Partner’s Exhibit” and the question raised was as to why the PAC was not involved. It was explained that it was a sub committee
from the 1% for the art committee of the Library and they are completing their
task. It is nothing new and the PAC is not being passed over on this.
