PENDING BUSINESS
1.
Artist Feedback Form:
Discussion ensued about responses from artists involved in previous
public art projects. A comment came in
stating that in the future the project should be more defined before asking for
artists to work on. Another comment was
there was a lot of time involved for small amount of money. It was asked to have the form put on the
website so people can send feedback.
2.
Homer News Map: This will be moved to the next meeting,
everything is in place when the paper is ready to go. Dru is working on the logo to be used. Be thinking about the
artwork that will be identified on the map.
3.
RFP for Free standing Sculptures: From the previous discussion on the
artist feedback forms and because of limited budget, it was decided to allocate
the resources of $1,300 to just one sculpture on Pioneer Ave. Also to eliminate items C. D. and E. on last
month list of RFP points to include.
The draft RFP is to be sent to Public Arts Committee a week before the
January meeting with community response by March 15th and award will
be in April.
We need to be in touch with Parks and Rec commission and let
them know of the plan. They may also be
able to assist in fund raising for the second sculpture renovation when the
time comes.
4.
Airport: It
was reported that there are no plans for expansion or renovation above and
beyond the floor. The total budget for
the project is $70,000. There is no option for the 1% for the art. They will be looking at painting the inside
of the airport possibly in 2009. It
was mentioned that Sheri Hobbs be invited to the February meeting to discuss
artwork in the airport.
NEW BUSINESS
5.
Rotational Art: Homer Council on the Arts will be in discussing exhibition
spaces. The Pratt has a lot of artwork
in storage and exhibition spaces and processes set up to maintain a rotational
program need to be looked at. The
airport came up as a possible location for rotating art.
