A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ESTABLISHING THE 2001 REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE FOR THE CITY COUNCIL, LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD, PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMISSION, ADVISORY PLANNING COMMISSION, AND THE PORT/HARBOR ADVISORY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the City Council annually approves the schedule for regular and some special meetings of the City Council, Advisory Commissions, and the Library Advisory Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, the public is informed of such meetings through the kiosks located at Eagle Quality Center and Lakeside Mall, the Clerk's Calendar on KBBI, the City's Home Page on the Internet, as well as posting at City Hall, Public Library, and Port and Harbor; and
WHEREAS, HCC 1.14.020 states City Council may adopt a resolution setting out the days
of each month and the time and place of the regular meetings of the body; and
WHEREAS, Special Meetings will be advertised in a local paper of general circulation at least three days before the date of the meeting or broadcast by local radio.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Homer City Council, that the 2001 meeting schedule is established for the City Council, Library Advisory Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, and the Port/Harbor Commission. that the City Council of Homer, Alaska as follows:
Holidays - City Offices closed:
January 1, New Year's Day, Monday
February 19, Washington's Birthday, the third Monday
March 26, Seward's Day, last Monday
May 28, Memorial Day, last Monday
July 4, Independence Day, Wednesday
September 3, Labor Day, first Monday
October 18, Alaska Day, Thursday
November 11, Veteran's Day, is a Sunday, so Offices will be closed on Monday, November 12th

in the Council Chambers.
*The City Council traditionally reschedules regular meetings that fall on holidays on the following Tuesday. The City Clerk places this on the preceding regular meeting agenda for Council's action to conduct that meeting on Tuesday rather than the Holiday Monday.
** The City Council traditionally cancels the last regular meeting in December and holds the first regular meeting and a Special Meeting for the adoption of the Budget and other end of the year items.
***In 1999 the Mayor and Council asked that the Local High School graduations be noted on the meeting schedule. If a regular Council meeting falls on a graduation night it will be rescheduled unless directed otherwise by the Council. Homer High School Graduation for 2001 is Monday, May 21st and Flex School Graduation is Saturday, May 19th, both non Council meeting days.
