A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL TO AMEND THE CITY OF HOMER PERSONNEL REGULATIONS, CHAPTER FIVE, EMPLOYEE BENEFITS, SECTION 5.1, HOLIDAYS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Regulation 1.6, Revisions and Amendments, the City Manager shall recommend revisions to these regulations...... and Revisions shall become effective upon Council approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that each employee receive his or her birthday as a "use it or lose it" type of a holiday; and
WHEREAS, the same rules shall apply as with other holidays in that if the birthday falls on a Saturday, Sunday or a regular day off it will be used on a Friday, Monday or next available work day; and
WHEREAS, if this birthday holiday is not used it is lost and cannot be banked, accumulated or applied to any other leave or holiday; and
WHEREAS, any employee required to work on his or her birthday or called on to work on his or her birthday will not receive holiday pay and shall take the next available duty day as his or her birthday holiday; and
WHEREAS, if the employee's birthday falls on a holiday then the employee can take the birthday holiday on the very next non holiday work day.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Homer City Council that the City of Homer Personnel Regulations Chapter Five, Employee Benefits, Section 5.1, Holidays, is hereby amended to include the following:
Each employee shall receive his or her Birthday as a holiday.
