A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE THE FILTER MEDIA FOR THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT DESCRIBED IN PURCHASE ORDER 50628, FROM LOPREST WATER TREATMENT COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,680.

WHEREAS, the City of Homer's 2000 budget authorized certain expenditures by the Public Works Department; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to purchase filter media for the Water Treatment Plant to replace the top layers of the media in four of the Water Treatment Plant filters, last replaced in 1987 and usually replaced every ten years, and

WHEREAS, Public Works has solicited competitive bids for this purchase; and

WHEREAS, bids were received by two potential vendors and it appears that the low bid is from Loprest Water Treatment Company for an amount of $9,680.00; and

WHEREAS, purchases in excess of $5,000.00 must be approved by Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:

Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase the filter media for the Water Treatment Plant described in Purchase Order Number 50628, from Loprest Water Treatment Company, for the amount of $9,680.00; and

Section 2. That payment is to be made from Account 315-831-5210, [Capital Reserve Water Fund] in the amount of $9,680.00.

Section 3. This Resolution takes effect upon passage.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 14th day of February, 2000.
