A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA RECOGNIZING THE LONGSTANDING AND OUTSTANDING WORK OF THE FRIENDS OF THE HOMER PUBLIC LIBRARY, INC. IN SUPPORT OF THE HOMER PUBLIC LIBRARY.

WHEREAS, the Friends of the Homer Public Library, Inc., was formed in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) organization for the purposes of charitable, literary and educational works; and

WHEREAS, the founding members of the Friends of the Homer Public Library, Inc. were previously active in support of library services in Homer for over sixty years as individuals and as the Homer Women's Club; and

WHEREAS, the Friends of the Homer Public Library, Inc. has been a longstanding "Friend" to the Homer Public Library by supporting its operations and programs through contributions; and

WHEREAS, the Friends of the Homer Public Library, Inc. has proven itself as a significant community organization; and

WHEREAS, the Friends of the Homer Public Library, Inc. has recently received a significant award for the purchase of new library books for the Homer Public Library.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Homer City Council that the Friends of the Homer Public Library is hereby recognized and appreciation is expressed for their efforts in support of the Homer Public Library and the Homer community.

PASSED and ADOPTED by the City Council of Homer, Alaska this 14th day of February, 2000.
