RESOLUTION 00-44

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE CALCIUM CHLORIDE FOR DUST CONTROL AS DESCRIBED IN PURCHASE ORDER 50723 and 50724 FROM VAN WATERS AND ROGERS, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $24,795.52.

WHEREAS, the City of Homer's 2000 budget authorized certain expenditures by the Public Works Department; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to purchase Calcium Chloride for dust control; and

WHEREAS, Public Works has solicited competitive bids for this purchase; and

WHEREAS, two bids were received with Van Waters and Rogers, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska submitting the lowest responsive bid in the amount of $24,795.52; and

WHEREAS, purchases in excess of $5,000.00 must be approved by Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:

Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase Calcium Chloride for dust control as described in Purchase Order Number 50724 from Van Waters and Rogers Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska in the amount of $24,795.52; and

Section 2. That payment is to be made from Accounts 101.5204.172, [Gravel Roads Dust Control] in the amount of $8,000; 100.5209.175 [Parks/Campgrounds Dust Control] in the amount of $1,500; 400.5209.601 [Port/Harbor Dust Control] in the amount of $1,000; 100.5209.174 [Winter Sand Chemicals] in the amount of $13,800 and from Kachemak City $525.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 24th day of April, 2000.
