A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE ANNEXATION PETITION FROM THE LOCAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION.

WHEREAS, the Homer City Council has been unable to sufficiently communicate and convince the community for the need for the current annexation petition; and

WHEREAS, the opposition to the current petition has been substantial from both the residents inside the City limits and outside the City limits; and

WHEREAS, enough time and resources have been dedicated to this annexation petition; and

WHEREAS, the Homer City Council has been able to sufficiently communicate and convince the community of the importance of the levels of current services paid for by the General Fund; including- Administration, Clerk's Office, Personnel, Economic Development, Finance, Planning, Library, Airport, Fire, EMS, Police, Animal Control, Public Works, City Road Maintenance, Parks & Recreation, Engineering & Inspection; and

WHEREAS, the Homer City Council recognizes that during the next budget cycle the City may need to decrease or eliminate one or more City services and/or raise user fees or taxes to balance the City budget.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Homer that the current Annexation Petition before Alaska Local Boundary Commission be withdrawn.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 26th day of June, 2000.
