A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING AND SUPPORTING APPLICATION BY THE HOMER VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE MINI GRANT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR A PORTABLE RADIO UPGRADE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, the Homer Volunteer Fire Department proposes to upgrade its communications capabilities to better coordinate its activities with outer emergency service agencies; and

WHEREAS, the biggest problem encountered during multiple agency emergency response scenarios is communication; and

WHEREAS, this funding is essential to implement the State's Communication Plan by upgrading the Homer Volunteer Fire Department's portable radios; and

WHEREAS, the Motorola HT1250 Portable will fulfill this upgrade need and is estimated to provide the Homer Volunteer Fire Department with the necessary radio capabilities for many years to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska hereby authorizes and supports application by the Homer Volunteer Fire Department for the Mini Grant Assistance Program for a portable radio upgrade and authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of Homer, Alaska this 31st day of July, 2000.
