A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA URGING THE MAYOR TO APPOINT, FOLLOWING ANNEXATION, RESIDENTS OF THE ANNEXED AREA TO VACANCIES ON CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ANNEXATION TRANSITION OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE.

WHEREAS, the City of Homer has petitioned the Local Boundary Commission to annex an estimated 25.58 square miles; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Homer, recognizes that, if annexation occurs, it will be essential to involve citizens of the annexed are in the process of assimilating the annexed area into the City of Homer.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Homer, Alaska that the Mayor is urged to appoint, following annexation, residents of the annexed area to vacancies on City Boards and Commissions and commits to the establishment of an Annexation Transition Oversight Committee; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of Homer, Alaska that this Annexation Transition Oversight Committee is to facilitate the assimilation of the annexed area into the City of Homer in a considerate and judicious manner.
