A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA RENEWING THE CITY ATTORNEY CONTRACT WITH PERKINS COIE FOR 2000/2001 AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, the City Council renewed the Contract with Perkins Coie September 1999 for a year; and

WHEREAS, the attorney assigned to the City of Homer is Gordon J. Tans and the City Council has enjoyed a good working relationship with the firm of Perkins Coie and Mr. Tans; and

WHEREAS, the City Attorney is hired by and works for the City Council; and

WHEREAS, the monthly fee is $6,960.00 for 45 hours per month, additional services are charged at the hourly rate, Mr. Tans rate is $160 per hour this is an increase of $10.00 per hour, and the monthly rate includes six free trips to Homer; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of staff that the contract be renewed for 2000/2001.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska renews the City Attorney Contract with Perkins Coie for 2000/2001 and authorizes the Mayor to execute the appropriate documents.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 9th day of October, 2000.
