RESOLUTION 01-15(A)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AWARDING THE KACHEMAK BAY MULTI PURPOSE OCEAN DOCK PROJECT TO THE FIRM OF HURLEN CONSTRUCTION CO. OF SEATTLE, WASHINGTON IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,880,000.00 BASE BID WITH ADDITIVE ALTERNATE ONE IN THE AMOUNT OF $78,000.00 AND ALTERNATE TWO IN THE AMOUNT OF $74,000.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, the Invitation to Bid was advertised in the Homer News on January 18 and 25, 2001, in the Anchorage Daily News on January 21 and 28, 2001, and the Seattle Times on January 21, 2001; sent to three in state plans rooms and two out of state plans rooms; and was posted on the City's Home Page; and

WHEREAS, Sealed bids were due in the Office of the City Clerk by 2:00 p.m. on March 6, 2001; and

WHEREAS, six sealed bids were received, a public bid opening was held shortly after 2 p.m. on March 6th and Hurlen Construction submitted the lowest responsive bid, the Basic Bid amount is $10,880,000.00, Additive Alternate One is $78,000 and Alternate Two is $74,000; and

WHEREAS, Public Works recommends that the Base Bid be awarded with Additive Alternate One; and

WHEREAS, this award is not final until written notification is received by Hurlen Construction Co. of Seattle, Washington from the City of Homer.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska awards the Kachemak Bay Multi Purpose Ocean Dock Project to the firm of Hurlen Construction Co. of Seattle, Washington in the Amount of $10,880,000.00 Base Bid with Additive Alternate One in the Amount of $78,000.00 and Alternate Two in the amount of $74,000.00 and that the City Manager is authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 12th day of March, 2001.
