A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOMER, ALASKA REQUESTING THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS CONDUCT A RECONNAISSANCE STUDY TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF DEVELOPING A SMALL NAVIGATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT CONSISTING OF A NEW HARBOR BASIN AT HOMER HARBOR, UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF SECTION 107 OF THE RIVER AND HARBOR ACT, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, it is understood that, if the Corps believes the Reconnaissance Study is likely to result in a project with a Federal interest; and
WHEREAS, if the City Council of Homer, Alaska agrees, the City of Homer would be requested to enter into a contract to pay half the cost of the Feasibility Study after the first $100,000; and
WHEREAS, it is understood that, if it is found feasible and advisable to develop a small navigation improvement project consisting of a new harbor basin at Homer Harbor, the City of Homer would be required, before construction begins, to agree to provide the local cooperation and cost sharing prescribed by the Secretary of the Army; and
WHEREAS, to initiate this process three fully executed copies of this Resolution will be forwarded to the District Engineer, Alaska District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
NOW, THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Homer, Alaska
that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conduct a Reconnaissance Study to determine the feasibility of developing a small navigation improvement project consisting of a new harbor basin at Homer Harbor, under the authority of Section 107 of the River and Harbor Act, as amended.
