RESOLUTION 01-56

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA ACCEPTING THE PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSISTANCE MATCHING GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,400.00 WITH A BUDGETED LOCAL MATCH OF $7,000.00 TO ASSIST LIBRARIES WITH THEIR OPERATIONAL AND SERVICE EXPENSES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant acceptance of $6,400.00 and the budgeted local match of $7,000 is to assist the Homer Public Library with their operational and service expenses; and

WHEREAS, this grant will help the Homer Public Library to maintain the collection size commensurate with the statewide per capita average and update the materials annually to provide a current collection; and

WHEREAS, the Homer Public Library will continue to maintain free access to in-house library services for everyone and continue to be open 52 hours per week; and

WHEREAS, the Homer Public Library wishes to encourage reading and literacy through enhanced existing and new programs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska hereby accepts the Public Library Assistance Matching Grant in the amount of $6,400.00 with a budgeted local match of $7,000.00 to assist the Homer Public Library with its operational and service expenses and authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents.

Fiscal Note: $6,300 is budgeted in Acct:100.5228.146. $7.000 is budgeted in 100.5228.145. The 2002 budget will reflect the additional $100 and will also reflect continued matching funds. This grant is a Fiscal Year grant from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002.
