RESOLUTION 01-94
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
BAYCREST TRAIL HEAD AND AGREEING THAT THE CITY OF HOMER WILL ASSUME THE MAINTENANCE
AND OWNERSHIP OF THE BAYCREST TRAIL HEAD, IF CONSTRUCTED BY THE STATE OF ALASKA.
WHEREAS, Residents of the City of Homer and of the greater Homer area have urged the City of Homer to support this
project and Resolution 00-98 was adopted on September 25, 2000 in support of the project as defined at that time; and
WHEREAS, The Baycrest Trail Head project is for the design and construction of a year round facility which will be a
wayside rest area with restrooms, off street parking for users of the ski/hiking trailhead and to establish a guaranteed access
to the area's trail system; and
WHEREAS, The trail system is used year round by the general population and specifically by the school children from the
Homer and Anchor Point area public, private and charter schools; and
WHEREAS, The trails are maintained by the Homer Nordic Ski Club and are used for many Borough-wide school events; and
WHEREAS, The current trail head is located off of Rogers Loop Road with dangerous roadside parking only and no
restroom facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska supports the construction of the
Baycrest Trail Head and agrees that the City of Homer will assume the maintenance and ownership of the Baycrest Trail
Head if constructed by the State of Alaska.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 10th day of December, 2001.
