WHEREAS, The Homer City Council discussed and approved a resolution on June 11, 2001 that the City of Homer complete a survey of citizens to acquire a better understanding of attitudes and opinions on current city issues, and
WHEREAS, This information will better assist the City Council in developing priorities that will guide the City in planning and use of resources, and
WHEREAS, The City Council has developed survey questions during numerous Committee of the Whole sessions throughout the past year, and
WHEREAS, The City Manager has developed a draft City of Homer Resident Survey questionnaire that includes statements developed by Council members at Committee of the Whole work sessions, and
WHEREAS, The City Council approved by unanimous consent on August 12, 2002 that the survey be completed by community members and survey results be compiled and tabulated for City Council and public use no later than the second City Council meeting in November and before approval of the FY 03 budget, and
WHEREAS, The City Council approved by unanimous consent on August 12, 2002, that the City Manager work with a third party to finalize survey wording in order to obtain a neutral presentation, efficient distribution and compilation of survey data; therefore, it is
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby directs the City Manager to contract services with National Research Center, Inc. to conduct the community survey.
