                                                             RESOLUTION 03-06 

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, REQUESTING THAT THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIES (DOT&PF) INSTALL TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTION OF STERLING HIGHWAY AND LAKE STREET.

 

WHEREAS, Both Lake Street and Sterling Highway are State Highways; and

 

WHEREAS, Their intersection has been constructed to State standards, including most hardware for the installation of traffic signals; and

 

            WHEREAS, State studies show that signals are warranted at this intersection; and

           

            WHEREAS, It is the opinion of this Council and a large segment of the Homer population that the installation of traffic signals at this location is desirable and will result in increased traffic safety; and

 

            WHEREAS, The signals could be set to flashing red and flashing yellow at low traffic times.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Homer, Alaska that the State of Alaska  DOT & PF is hereby requested to install traffic signals at the intersection of Lake Street and Sterling Highway, and the Mayor is instructed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the State of Alaska DOT & PF.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 13th day of January, 2003.
