A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA TO DESIGNATE AN AREA OF THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT AS THE HOMER TOWN CENTER DISTRICT FOR THE PURPOSE OF MASTER PLANNING.

 

WHEREAS,  the property defined by this Resolution consists of the government, retail and financial district of the City of Homer, Alaska; and

 

WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Department will use this definition of the Homer Town Center District to develop a long-term master plan together with the Town Center Group and the Homer Advisory Planning Commission for presentation to the City Council; and

 

WHEREAS, the implementation of the master plan will benefit both the economic and quality of life of the community; and

 

WHEREAS, this designation will provide boundaries which to apply to financing incentives for the installation of infrastructure and related improvements; and

 

WHEREAS, the property contains open space, recreational values, residential interests, and commercial opportunities and will act as a civic center to draw business and provide for a higher quality of life for area residents.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Homer City Council that the area to be known as the Homer Town Center District is defined as the land within the area formed by Pioneer Avenue, Lake Street and the Sterling Highway, inclusive of lots fronting the aforementioned streets.

           

            PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL this 10th day of February, 2003.
