RESOLUTION 03-47

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING THAT NECESSARY ACTIONS BE TAKEN BY THE MAYOR AND OF COUNCIL TO INFORM STATE AND FEDERAL OFFICIALS OF THE IMPORTANCE THE HOMER ICE RINK AND OTHER PROJECTS AND THAT AN OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE(S) OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR OF HOMER, PRESENT EXISTING AND FUTURE RESOLUTIONS REQUESTING FUNDING TO THE ALASKAN DELEGATION IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

            WHEREAS, The Capital Improvements Program has been approved by the Homer City Council, that includes the Ice Rink Facility, New Library Project, Phase II of the Homer Deep Water Dock and other projects that may require federal funding, and

            WHEREAS, the need to complete Phase II of the Homer Deep Water Dock is additionally recognized by the Homer City Council in Resolution 03-44 & Resolution 03-45 as a need critical to the welfare of the City of Homer, the Kenai Peninsula and the State of Alaska, and

            WHEREAS, the award of the Arctic Winter Games to the Kenai Peninsula Borough has put new importance on Homer’s proposed Ice Rink Facility, and determination of possible Federal funding for the Library Project is unknown at this time,

            NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska authorizes necessary steps to inform State and Federal delegations of the need for all relevant Homer Projects and that an official representative(s) of the City of Homer be designated by the Mayor of Homer to present approved resolutions and support materials to the Alaska delegation in Washington, D.C.

            PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 10th day of March, 2003.
