A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AWARDING THE BID FOR THE HOMER SMALL BOAT HARBOR HIGH MAST LIGHTS TO THE FIRM OF PUFFIN ELECTRIC OF HOMER, ALASKA IN THE AMOUNT OF $166,617.00 TO RESURRECT THE LIGHT AT RAMP 2 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The Invitation to Bid for the Homer Small Boat Harbor High Mast Lights was advertised in the Homer Tribune on March 19 and 26, 2003, the Anchorage Daily News on March 23, 2003, and the Peninsula Clarion on March 23, 2003,. sent to instate Plans Rooms and posted on the City's Internet Site; and

WHEREAS, Sealed bids were due by 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2003 and two sealed bids were received by the City Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS, A public bid opening was conducted with the firm of Puffin Electric of Homer, Alaska submitting the lowest responsible and responsive bid in the amount of $166,617.00; and

WHEREAS, This award is not final until notice is received by Puffin Electric from the City of Homer; and

WHEREAS, during the meeting of April 14, 2003, Homer City Council amended the award to appropriate the funds to resurrect the light at Ramp 2 that fell and put the other light in storage until the City has a budget session to fund it (the full project).

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska hereby awards the bid for the Homer Small Boat Harbor High Mast Lights to the firm of Puffin Electric of Homer, Alaska in the amount of $166,617.00 to resurrect the light at Ramp 2 and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 14th day of April, 2003.

Fiscal Note: Budgeted in Acct. 415-380. The current fund balance is $30,000. There is a shortfall of $30,000. $90,000 was allocated and $54,000 was spent in purchasing, transportation, engineering and installing temporary lighting. Clerks Note: Ordinance to appropriate $30,000 at next meeting.
