RESOLUTION 03-91
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF ITS COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, The actions of a block of Councilmembers at the June 9, 2003 Regular meeting of the Homer City Council and the outcome of
Ordinance 03-25(S)(A) has created a feeling of mistrust within the Council as well as in the community of Homer; and
WHEREAS, It has become publicly apparent that the Homer City Council has problems in communicating with each other in a way that is
respectful and productive creating a dialogue that produces a win-win outcome; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of Homer have the right to expect more of its elected officials in its ability to act as leaders in making decisions that effect
the future of this City and the future of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, A stalemate has been created in coming to an educated and unified decision regarding the presence of large retail and wholesale
establishments in Homer; and
WHEREAS, There is no format in place for the Homer City Council to respectfully resolve a stalemate of this magnitude; and
WHEREAS, "there is no great future for any people who's faith has burned out",(Rufus M. Jones.)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council supports its communication and working relationship and that Council approves
and agrees to have a Council worksession on July 14, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss and explore all aspects of the large retail and wholesale ordinance
and to develop a plan by which we will come to this decision.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 23rd day of June, 2003.
