RESOLUTION 03-97

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING A LIBRARY GRANT FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION, ALASKA COMMISSION ON AGING, IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,455.20 FOR THE SFY 2004 MATURE ALASKANS SEEKING SKILLS TRAINING (MASST) AND ACCEPTING A PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSISTANCE MATCHING GRANT FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND EARLY DEVELOPMENT, DIVISION OF LIBRARIES, ARCHIVES AND MUSEUMS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,300.00 FOR PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSISTANCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The MASST, formerly the Senior Community Service Employment Program, Grant will enable the library program to continue at the Friendship Terrace and is budgeted for CY 2003; and

WHEREAS, The Public Library Assistance Grant requires a local match of $7,000, which is budgeted as is the grant for CY 2003 and assists with library services and operations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Homer City Council that the Library Grant from the State of Alaska Department of Administration, Alaska Commission on Aging in the amount of $8,455.20 for the SYF 2004 MASST and a Library Matching Grant from the State of Alaska Library in the amount of $6,300.00 for Public Library Assistance are accepted and that the City Manager is authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

ADOPTED AND PASSED by the Homer City Council this 14th day of July, 2003.
