A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL RENAMING THE ROAD STANDARDS COMMITTEE TO TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, The Road Steering Committee was renamed Road Standards Committee in 1988 and was given the mission of reviewing road standards, putting together the Homer Accelerated Roads Program Policy Manual, and addressing a variety of road related issues; and
WHEREAS, The Road Standards Committee is a Standing Committee pursuant to Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised and follows those rules and the directives of the Mayor and Council; and
WHEREAS, The Road Standards Committee's function has expanded by osmosis to include analysis, evaluation and review of recommendations for crosswalks, trails, traffic signalization, traffic calming, Transportation Plan, projects, non motorized trails, town aesthetics; and
WHEREAS, During the April 20, 2004 meeting it was suggested that the name of the Road Standards Committee be changed to more accurately reflect its duty and responsibility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby renames the Road Standards Committee to Transportation Committee; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor appoint a new member to the Transportation Committee familiar with trails issues.
