RESOLUTION 05-106

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AWARDING THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY OPERATING SOFTWARE TO SIRSI OF HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 80,000.00 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The Homer Public Library has the opportunity of purchasing new library software at a significant discount; and

WHEREAS, The new library software will upgrade and improve library operations; and

WHEREAS, There is a statewide Alliance of Libraries that recommends the Sirsi Unicorn software, which will facilitate better networking of the State Library System or Alaska Library Network; and

WHEREAS, Sirsi is a state of the art, web based and automated library management system; and

WHEREAS, Sirsi has offered the Homer Public Library a 30% discount and the $80,000.00 includes training, inventory, and software .

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska hereby awards the purchase of Library Operating Software to Sirsi of Huntsville, Alabama in the amount of $80,000.00 and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 24th day of October, 2005.
