RESOLUTION 05-127
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOMER ALASKA URGING
THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH TO PROCEED FORTHWITH WITH THE DESIGN,
BIDDING, AND CONSTRUCTION OF SOUTH PENINSULA HOSPITAL EXPANSION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, south peninsula voters approved the expansion project of South Peninsula Hospital
with associated $10.5 million in bonds in 2003, and
WHEREAS, the project, administratively an arm of the Kenai Peninsula Borough, has been delayed
and costs have risen, and
WHEREAS, it appears that unless $7.1 million is spent by October, 2006, the tax-free status of the
bonds will be in jeopardy, and
WHEREAS, the south peninsula community desires that a majority of the project be built at this
time, with future additions built as feasible.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Kenai Peninsula Borough is urged to have
scaled-down plans for the South Peninsula Hospital expansion - possibly along the lines of Option
E-Prime - but in any event capable of being built within available funds prepared, the project put out
to bid within three months, and construction substantially accomplished this coming summer.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 28TH day of November, 2005
