RESOLUTION 05-58

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE HOMER LIBRARY PROJECT TO THE FIRM OF JAY-BRANT GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF HOMER, ALASKA, IN THE BASE BID AMOUNT OF $6,109,390.50 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The Invitation to Bid was advertised in the Homer News on March 17 and 24, 2005, in the Peninsula Clarion on March 20, 2005, in the Anchorage Daily News on March 17, 24, 31 and April 7, 2005, posted on Clerk's home page, and sent to four plans rooms; and

WHEREAS, Sealed bids were due by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005 and seven sealed bids were received by the City Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS, The lowest responsible and responsive Bidder is Jay-Brant General Contractors of Homer, Alaska submitting the lowest responsible and responsive bid in the amount of $6,146,889.00, deductive alternate is $37,500 with a base bid of $6,109,390.50; and

WHEREAS, This award is not final until notice is received by Jay-Brant General Contractors of Homer, Alaska from the City of Homer.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska hereby awards the contract for the Homer Public Library Project to the Firm of Jay-Brant General Contractors of Homer, Alaska in an base bid amount not to Exceed $6,109,390.50 and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 9th day of May, 2005.
