RESOLUTION 05-75(A)



A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH TO PROVIDE FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO KACHEMAK EMERGENCY SERVICE AREA FOR FY 2006 AND JULY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 2006 IN THE AMOUNT OF $283,955.00.

WHEREAS, The Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) formed the Kachemak Emergency Service Area  (KESA) to provide fire and emergency medical services in the service area; and

WHEREAS, The City of Homer entered into a one year agreement, July 2003, with an automatic one year extension with the KPB on behalf of the KESA to provide fire and emergency medical services to the area included in the KESA, the extension expires July 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, The City of Homer and the KESA Board have negotiated a new agreement for continued provision of fire and emergency medical services to the Kachemak Emergency Service Area; and

WHEREAS, The KESA Board recommended to the KPB Assembly approval of the negotiated agreement for an eighteen month period for a total amount of $283,955.00 ($182,136 for FY 2006 and $101,819.00 for July 1 through December 31, 2006,[ with an automatic annual renewal for two subsequent one year terms]; and

WHEREAS, The KPB Assembly, through KPB Resolution 2005-067, adopted on November 1, 2005, authorized the KPB Mayor to execute the negotiated contract.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Homer City Council that the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the KPB to provide fire and emergency medical services to KESA for a period of for an eighteen month period for a total amount of $283,955.00 ($182,136 for FY 2006 and $101,819.00 for July 1 through December 31, 2006,[with an automatic annual renewal for two subsequent one year terms.]
