RESOLUTION 06-118
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE NAMING OF A BALL FIELD AT KAREN
HORNADAY HILLSIDE CITY PARK IN MEMORIAM OF SHERRY HAGEN.
WHEREAS, City Council adopted the Parks and Recreation Policy Regarding Naming of Municipal Park and Recreation
Facilities via Resolution 06-68 on June 12, 2006; and
WHEREAS, The Homer Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (Commission) followed those policies as set forth by
the City Council and conducted a public hearing during their regular meeting of August 17, 2006 on the naming of a ball
field in memoriam of Sherry Hagen; and
WHEREAS, The Commission passed their own Resolution 06-02 on August 17, 2006 entitled, "A Resolution of the Parks
and Recreation Advisory Commission Approving the Naming of a Ball Field at Karen Hornaday Park in Honor of Sherry
Hagen, and Recommending the City fo Homer City Council Approve this Action."; and
WHEREAS, Widower, Tom Hagen petitioned the City October 2005 to have a baseball field named in memoriam of his
deceased wife Sherry Hagen; and
WHEREAS, The Commission has found that a memorial plaque for the ballfield is consistent with the Parks and
Recreation Policy Regarding Naming of Municipal Park and Recreation Facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that authorization is hereby given to name a ball field at
Karen Hornaday Hillside City Park in memoriam of Sherry Hagen; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a memorial plaque may be placed at the location of the ballfield to be named Sherry Hagen Ballfield.
