RESOLUTION 06-143
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT (NO DEFINED TERM) WITH THE KENAI
PENINSULA BOROUGH FOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES
AND RELATED MATTERS (911 DISPATCH SERVICES) IN THE AMOUNT OF $48,000.
WHEREAS, The City of Homer and the Kenai Peninsula Borough are resolved to working together to
provide the best emergency call taking and dispatch services possible to the residents of Homer and the
lower Kenai Peninsula; and
WHEREAS, The existing contract between the City and the Borough which outlines the respective roles
and responsibility of the parties with respect to emergency management communications services has
expired; and
WHEREAS, The City and the Borough wish to enter into a new contract for emergency management
communications services in which the City provides emergency call taking within the City limits on behalf
of the Borough and both emergency call taking dispatching services to area(s) outside of the City as an
emergency back-up for other Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) as the need arises; and
WHEREAS, The staff of both the Borough and the City have reviewed the attached agreement and
recommend approval by the Homer City Council and the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the City Council of the City of Homer, Alaska hereby
finds that the attached Contract for Emergency Management Communications Services between the
Kenai Peninsula Borough and the City of Homer is in the best interest of the City and its residents and
authorizes the City Manager to execute it.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 11th day of December, 2006.
