A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL REQUESTING THAT THE ALASKA LEGISLATURE INSERT $6 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE STATE CAPITAL BUDGET FOR STRENGTHENING AND EXPANSION OF THE HOMER DEEP WATER DOCK.
WHEREAS, Upgrading and expanding the Deep Water Dock has been a top capital improvement priority of the City of Homer for many years, and
WHEREAS, Improvements to the Dock will lower regional costs for goods and services and serve to expand and diversify the local economy, and
WHEREAS, The preliminary cost estimate for this project is $28 million, and
WHEREAS, Congress has provided $2 million that will be used for permitting, final design and engineering, and economic feasibility studies, and
WHEREAS, Governor Murkowski has inserted $1.7 million in his capital budget for the dock; an action that the City appreciates but additional funding is needed, and
WHEREAS, anticipated funding for the construction phase of this project is $20 Million from the Federal Government, $ 6 Million from the State Government, and $ 2 million from the City through the proceeds of a bond sale.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Homer City Council hereby requests that the Alaska Legislature insert $ 6 Million Dollars into the FY 07 Capital budget for Expansion and Improvements at the Homer Deep Water Dock.
