RESOLUTION 06-44 (S)

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL EXPRESSING ITS APPRECIATION FOR THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD PRESENCE IN HOMER AND TO THE OFFICERS AND CREW OF THE USCGC HICKORY AND USCGC ROANOKE ISLAND FOR THE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS THEY MAKE TO THE COMMUNITY.

 

WHEREAS, The United States Coast Guard has a very significant presence in Homer; a fact that is acknowledged and very much appreciated by the Mayor and the Homer City Council, and

 

WHEREAS, The Coast Guard officers and crew stationed in Homer make a very valuable contribution to homeland security, search and rescue, navigational safety, and other areas too numerous to mention, and

 

WHEREAS, The officers and crew of the Hickory and the Roanoke live in Homer, are integrated into the community, and make very significant contributions to the local economy and to the social and cultural fabric of the community, and

 

WHEREAS, The United States Coast Guard and the City of Homer have worked cooperatively to achieve a number of common goals in the past and have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship, and

 

WHEREAS, The Homer City Council wishes to strengthen and build upon the relationship between the community and the Coast Guard and to maintain a continued strong Coast Guard presence here.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Homer City Council hereby expresses its sincere appreciation for the United States Coast Guard presence in Homer and to the officers and crew of the USCGC Hickory and USCGC Roanoke Island for the outstanding contributions they make to the community and to the region, and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council expresses its commitment and desire to work with the Coast Guard to build upon the existing relationship and to maintain a strong Coast Guard presence in the community.

 

PASSED AND APPROVED by the Homer City Council this 10th day of April, 2006.
