RESOLUTION 06-49
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA URGING THE LEGISLATURE
TO DELETE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME IN ALASKA.
WHEREAS, Numerous residents of Alaska are processing petitions to the State Legislature to delete
Daylight Savings Time (DST) in Alaska; and
WHEREAS, The daylight hours in Alaska during the regular DST period are significantly longer than for the rest of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Other United States, states or holdings that do not currently observe DST are Arizona,
with the exception of the Navajo Nation; Hawaii; Guam; Northern Marina Islands; U.S. Virgin Isles;
American Samoa and Puerto Rico.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby urges the State Legislature to
delete DST in Alaska.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL this 24th day of April, 2006.
