RESOLUTION 06-67(A)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING THE EXTENSION A NATURAL GAS MAIN LINE TO HOMER.

WHEREAS, Natural gas provides a safe, economical heating alternative and has been shown to increase the value and marketability of parcels; and

WHEREAS, The availability of natural gas as a heating fuel will decrease the utilization of heating fuels requiring storage containers which may leak their contents, thereby minimizing the potential for pollution to area drinking water, lakes, streams, and the environment; and

WHEREAS, Many Homer City residents and area residents have expressed interest in and/or have requested that there be natural gas service to Homer and the greater Homer area particularly since the late 1980s.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council of Homer Alaska hereby voices its support and does hereby encourage the extension of a Natural Gas Main Line to Homer; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Council of Homer Alaska hereby invites Enstar Natural Gas to provide information to the Council regarding requirements for providing Natural Gas into Homer; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Council furthermore request the State Regulatory Commission to make a presentation with regard to this same subject.
