A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL EXPRESSING ITS POSITION REGARDING CURRENT EFFORTS TO PROMOTE A MERGER BETWEEN KACHEMAK CITY AND THE CITY OF HOMER.
WHEREAS, There is currently a petition circulating among residents of Kachemak City that proposes to initiate a process that could result in the merger of Kachemak City and the City of Homer, and
WHEREAS, The City of Homer and Kachemak City have been good neighbors for many years, have enjoyed a positive and mutually beneficial relationship, and have worked cooperatively to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the greater Homer area, and
WHEREAS, The Homer City Council values its relationship with Kachemak City and does not wish to see that relationship damaged or diminished in any way.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Homer City Council states that neither it nor the Homer City Administration are providing support to the current effort to merge the two cities, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That if the Kachemak City Council were to become interested in having an open and public discussion about a possible merger of the two cities and were to initiate that discussion on its own, the Homer City Council would willingly participate in the discussion.
